Petrovac

Petrovac Petrovac is located in a large valley at 18 km from Budva, surrounded by mountains with two clifs that are deserving in sea, and from the sea with two sandy beaches. Located in the sandy bay and surrounded by dense pine forests. It originated in Roman times and it is assumed that this place was one of the stations on the Roman road along the Adriatic coast. The oldest name were the Lastva Petrovac, which was first mentioned in the Chronicle of the Priest Dukljanin. The name “Petrovac on the sea” wear after the first World War. Until then, the place was called “Lastva” known as fortress from the 16th century. Lastva was mentioned already 1307th at the time of the King Milutin. In sixteenth century Venetians built a fortress in Petrovac Kastio (Castello), which was stationed a garrison of Venice. In the same period was built and sanitary buildings Lazaret, which was used in medical purposes to house patients during the epidemic as a quarantine.
